Hi,
I'm building a WordPress site and want to install a plugin for SEO and indexing purpose. I'm confused between Yoast and Rankmath, which will be good to use?
There’s a lot to learn if you want to become an SEO expert, and no single method is going to cover everything there is to learn. However, some aspects are made easier on you by using the best SEO plugin for WordPress that caters to your specific needs.

I would suggest Yoast based on my past experience with it.

If you're looking for something lightweight and easy to use, All in One SEO Pack or SEOPress might be better options. On the other hand, if you're a more advanced user and need more advanced features, you might want to consider something like SEO Framework.

it creates a copy of your site and compares the live site to it, if there is a difference it lets you know and you can check if its hacker activity or not.

The poistives for Yoast outway the neagtives. It may be "bloated" in that it does a lot and I'm not keen on the trafic lights and suggestions. However the sitemap system keeps Google up to date with all the changes you make to your pages. I'm also relaibly informed it's one of only a few SEO plugins that integrates with woocommerce the ecommerce plugin
It's great to hear about the positive aspects of Yoast, and you've highlighted some key features that make it valuable, especially with its sitemap system and integration with WooCommerce.

My first SEO plugin was AIOSEO and it did work well. But then I decided to switch to Yoast and it hasn't gotten any worse, but the extra features Yoast can offer are very helpful. Let's take for example the feature of adding Schema markup to site.

Choosing the best WordPress SEO plugin in 2025 depends on your business goals, but Rank Math stands out for its robust free features, ease of use, and comprehensive functionality. Based on recent reviews, here’s a quick breakdown of top contenders:

  • Rank Math: Offers a user-friendly setup wizard, supports multiple keyword optimization, and includes advanced features like schema markup and redirect management. Its free version covers most SEO needs, making it ideal for UK SMEs aiming to boost local search rankings.
  • Yoast SEO: A trusted choice with a strong community, great for beginners. It excels in content optimization and readability analysis but has fewer free features compared to Rank Math.
  • AIOSEO: Beginner-friendly with powerful eCommerce and local SEO tools. Its Search Statistics feature integrates Google Search Console for tracking rankings, perfect for UK businesses targeting data-driven growth.
  • SEOPress: Lightweight and freemium, with AI-driven title and meta description generation. Great for businesses needing WooCommerce or local SEO optimization.
  • The SEO Framework: No-nonsense, bloat-free plugin with a focus on performance. Ideal for developers or businesses wanting a lightweight solution, though it lacks some advanced features.

For UK businesses, I’d recommend Rank Math for its balance of free features, local SEO capabilities, and intuitive interface, which aligns with Google’s latest algorithms. Pair it with a site audit to ensure your WordPress site meets Google’s UI/UX standards—crucial for ranking in competitive UK markets.

We’ve helped clients achieve #1 Google rankings (like our own site, it2.tv) using organic strategies and tools like these. Happy to offer a free SEO audit to see how your site can leverage these plugins for better visibility!

I would like to suggest that "All in One SEO Plugin" and "Yoast SEO Plugin" are the best for WordPress.
