You’d probably don’t know it, but Scottish Government has been running a regeneration policy discussion exercise for months after publishing their discussion paper ‘Building a sustainable future’. I’ve just mailed my independent submission. Deadline for submissions has passed but Scottish Government will be mulling over submissions and cogitating over the summer before a further publication later in the summer. So there’s still influencing and discussing to be done and I’d therefore appreciate any feedback here or by pm.
Perhaps the major issue for for the private business sector, is around finance and funding for major regeneration and infrastructure development in Scotland . I cover some of this from pages 12-19. A major concern for Scotland has to be the accentuation of the impact of the new ‘economic geography’.
The paper is a biggy and not everyone will want to read though it - although I can’t imagine why not;-). If you want to scan just pages 3 and 4, they let you read where I’m coming from. It’s available at

Some of what I say in my paper is drawn from a short series of Chatham House discussions that I co-hosted for SURF, and the outcomes paper from that is available here.
