I think there can be definitely opportunities during a downturn. If a new business can keep costs low, stay flexible and offer something people actually need, it may have an advantage over larger competitors with high costs and debt.

I think there can be an opportunity, but only for the right type of business. A downturn can weaken established competitors, reduce valuations and create gaps where larger companies are too slow or expensive to respond. The mistake would be assuming that being cash-rich and nimble is enough. Demand can fall just as quickly as competitors weaken, and a startup without strong cash flow can burn through its advantage surprising.
