That's very true, I've just popped 'up town' to pay a cheque in the bank and it was a NIGHTMARE!

And bear in mind I'm just outside the City; a few miles from Dalmahoy. If they HAD actually got away with slapping the congestion charge on I'd have also added an Edinburgh surcharge to my ratecard.. And I' m not kidding. I'm close to that point already....

Can i play dumb for just a moment, what is a ratecard?

Holy rhetorical question Batman!!!

It's kinda like a card ...with sort of rates on it. Or at least it used to be.... If I was less of an ass sorry; traditionalist I'd probably call it a price list....:D

For all core services we break things up into an hourly or unit rate.... There exists a card with what's called the 'rack rate' for each of these services. Those familiar with travel and tourism parlance might be familiar with the term 'rack rate'; It's what you'll theoretically pay for a hotel room or hotel services if you walk in off the street and 'demand' a room...

As with hotels we can often discount from the rack rate.... In fact in practice it's rare for anyone to pay the rack rate... It should be more properly called the 'hacked-off' rate since about the only time it's enforced is when a client starts p-ing about and costing time...

Probably easier if I just point you here for an explanation of how it's all costed out....

And the ratecard...

i see that makes more sense.

i thought it was some business rates card that you were crediting it to business rates due.

Thanks for explaining it.

Well the way i see it is that everytime i walk past roadworks they are all either scratching their bums or twiddling their fingers so really they could just continue to do that, but do it indoors out of our way :D

I'm sure they would come up with some other way to annoy us.

maybe they'll build a monorail next . . . oh my god can you imagine that :D
