Yet another IT question...

I'm going to reformat my business computer before I move so that I can start fresh when I get there. I have all the original disks for my programs but I need to make a copy of my outlook emails. Am I correct in assuming that I can export the pst file to an external drive, reformat the computer then import the pst file back into outlook once i reinstall it?

Hello Brian,

Yes you are correct that you can export your emails to a .pst file, just choose the location you want to save the .pst file.

Make sure to select all subfolders as well or it will just export the inbox and no subfolders.

Subfolders would include address book, etc.

File > Import/Export > Export to a file > Personal folder file (.pst) > Personal Folders (and tick include sub-folders) > Choose location for backup file to be put > Finish.

It may ask you for encryption and compression - dinnae bother with that :)
