Yahoo has relaunched in web portal.

BBC NEWS | Business | Yahoo's new web portal goes live

Will it ever be a challenge to the mighty Google. I hope so.

We have seen the days when Microsoft was one of the biggest companies in the world...certainly that's a position it no longer holds as Google taps into its makert...and vice versa.

So can Yahoo gain some market share...if it portal works well?

I've had Yahoo set as my homepage for years as I use their webmail service. The pretentiously named 'portal' has always been a bit lame.

Lead stories are rarely up to date and often many days or even weeks old. The new layout isn't great with annoying pop ups under the main window that often obscure what you actually want. Same with the left hand toolbar which is actually bloody irritating... The rather random 'recommended' links (recommended WHY I wonder? Why would I want to read "Time Out" London?)

'Fraid it's just 'there'... No great shakes.
