What exactly is “user journey tracking” on a website and why does it matter now?

Good question! When we talk about user-journey tracking, we’re essentially mapping how someone moves through your site: landing page → browsing → basket → checkout (or exit). It matters more than ever in the UK/EU because users are browsing on multiple devices, expect faster experiences, and are increasingly sensitive to privacy. For example, recent web-stats show that in 2025 mobile usage remains dominant and sites that load faster and track behaviour effectively have better engagement. UserGuiding We Are Social UK And because the GDPR and e-privacy regulations are strict here, getting your tracking right (with consent, clarity) is part of the game.
How do you currently map your site’s user journey and what pain point do you keep bumping into?
