BBC News - Google warning on fake anti-virus software

I know a few people who've been conned by this trick in the past. I'm sure most on here are savvy enough not to fall for this but I think it always helps to be reminded of these types of scams :)

Hi There

Sadly I deal with this as part of my daily job and have noticed a big increase in the frequency and complexity of these.

I suppose I can't complain from a business point of view mind you!

One of the most recent I worked on disables absolutely everything including the desktop so that the full screen / desktop is a fake security warning and very difficult to work around as the only thing that works is button to buy this crap. Very clever actually.

I have written a guide that deals with these, should you get infected and it has been successful with thousand of cases.

FREE Virus / Malware removal guide

I have also developed a technique that removes this rubbish with around 20-30 minutes which is a slight advancement on my guide but thats my secret!

What I would suggest is that people invest in the Paid for version of Malware Bytes Anti-Malware.

This program will give you REAL-TIME protection against this type of malware among others and I beleive it is an absolute neccessity on any internet facing system including servers.

As a reseller I can do both Consumer (Home) and Business licenses. I might actually post something in the Business Market place.

Any questions etc then just ask.

Regards
