Hi All,

I'm trying to segment the different types of businesses and people that will see value in SBF. The idea being that I try and tailor a message to that specific segment.

One area i'm working on just now is new start businesses and I've determined that I can purchase data from Companies House that gives me details of all new start businesses in Scotland. I'm trying to develop an approach to this segment and i'm looking for your help and advice about how best to do this.

Media - Should it be a letter or some sort of post card sized leaflet?
Message - How should I pitch SBF to them?
Call to Action - Any ideas on what I could offer them to take action?

Looking forward to lots of replies and ready to be inspired :p

Hi

What about a marketing ebook. A lot of small businesses think they have to spend a fortune on advertising their business. However if you offered them an ebook on how to do it for free, or nearly free, I think this might be a good enticer for them. You could buy a PLR ebook for this or write one yourself.

Just a thought.

Thanks Steve :) Forgive me but what is a PLR Ebook?

I guess you could extend this to a small business bible type thing where some members on the forums could collaborate to create something covering most business topics in a sort of summary fashion.

Hmmm.... that's got the juices flowing :)

what is a PLR Ebook?

I am sure Steve will correct me if I am wrong, but to the best of my knowledge it's an eBook that you purchase that comes with resell/redistribution rights. Ebay was (and might still be!) overflowing with these a couple of years back.

I can only comment on the ones that I have seen, but in my opinion many are of a very poor standard, tend to be years out of date and amatuer in appearance. Not something befitting of the SBF brand.

This doesn't mean that there are some high quality, worthwhile titles out there! I just haven't seen any. :)

Have you thought about business plans?

One of the most commonly asked questions by new startups is about how to write a decent business plan. You could build a bit on the blog etc with lots of links about what to put in, lots of advice sites about thinking, approach, where to get statistic market information etc, and then you could make/sell a template (or you could just take commission for selling other peoples business plan software products).

Hi

PLR - Private Label Rights. Basically you buy an ebook written by somebody else and you brand it as your own and it means you can sell it on or, in this case, give it away as a special offer for signing up.

oops just saw Gordon's reply.

You're right Gordon, there is a lot of crap out there but sifting through the crap is some gold and it could be better than writing the book yourself.

Hope this helps

Steve
