Reverse Graffiti Advertising Offer

Hi Neale,

Just out of interest, what length of time are the adverts legible for? What happens if they are defaced; do you guys do a "respray" for free?

Have you got any previous clients that have shown the viability of this kind of advertising?

We've found that they stay legible with a great degree of clarity for around 2 months. If the situation arises that they are defaced or fade at an unforseen rate then we respray for free within that 2 month period

Our most recent client crepe a criossant were very satisfied, and we also had previously carried out a trial with our own logo in our local area and it works well.

It's referred to as reverse because the effect is achieved without paint Instead it is water cleaning a temporary design into the ground. Not to everyones taste i know :laugh:

Ah, so you're saying the ground was previously dirty, and the design consists of the spots where the dirt has been washed away? I didn't realise that.

I suppose that's better than applying paint to the surface, but personally I'd rather see the entire dirty area cleaned.

great idea, I have seen this around - supposedly invented by a guy from Leeds called Moose. Do you mind me asking what kind of equipment is used to achieve this affect? I was thinking it is probably a cold water pressure washer but wouldn't that be too powerful for some surfaces?

I suspect many of us would... But it's not happening! Which is why there's an opportunity for these guys... Can't say I really 'approve' of the idea, but if the local councils were doing their job properly it wouldn't be possible, so this might be the kick up the backside they need!

I have to say I admire these folk's enterprise. And their bottle... Operationally this must be hard work in every sense. It's likely to slot in well to many marketing campaigns though, and I wish them well with it...

just another niggle. Do you specify a time period that the advert will be visible for? If so what is to stop me, or anyone else for that matter, ordering an advert using a credit card then "removing" the advert ourselves with our own steam cleaner before the period has expired and then claiming the credit card payment from you under the "non-receipt of goods and services" condition on a credit agreement?

There is a risk with this method of advertising to any client in that you dont own the advertising space and therefore have no control over the advertising period in a similar way to fly posting.

I think it is a great idea, honestly, but I am just picking at the downside or ways to manipulate it

...Hypothetically ....What's to prevent me and a bunch of other journalists springing on this mean-spiritedness and supplying you with a whole raft of negative publicity that gets you and your clients blackballed for years?

The councils will shut it down soon enough... But this just adds to the entertainment...

And yes it IS a great idea.... But one with a finite life to it which could net someone with the right set up and exit strategies a tidy sum..

That would be very very harsh! haha! true it is possible..although maybe more hassle than its worth...i.e find where all the designs are, hire equipment to get rid of them etc...hopefully nobody will be doing that to me

Totally agree with vitalise tracking the ads down etc would make it totally not worth while.

Ideally an add for Costa would be at the doorstep of Starbucks, Starbucks could easily either retaliate with their own add and clean their own step. All you would have to do is to ransom the coffee shop... go to Starbucks and write the words "Costa" in the pavement, give them a call next day offering your services and away you go.

I dont really see a massive valuation in a company doing this simply because you dont own anything, not the space or the ability to do it. It needs to be a cash cow, milk the short term for all you can.
