Disclosure: I represent Bizdigitizer.

Could your business offer customers something useful digitally alongside the services or products you already sell?

Bizdigitizer helps established businesses turn their expertise and existing offering into their own digital product. We analyse your company website, suggest suitable product ideas, and develop the idea you choose. We also provide hosting and maintenance and support the launch and marketing.

We are looking for pilot businesses to work through this process with us. Pilot customers receive their individually developed app 100% free as part of the pilot. We agree the scope and pilot arrangements together before starting.

For example, a painting business might extend its services with its own colour-advisory product, or a garden business with a digital maintenance planner. These are illustrative examples: the product idea for your business is based on what you do and what your customers need.

If this fits your business, reply with your industry and the services or products your business offers. Please keep private customer information out of public replies.

Worth a look for anyone who has been meaning to add something digital, but a few things need pinning down before agreeing a scope:

  • Ownership: Who owns the IP and source code once the pilot ends? Free development only has value if the business keeps the product.
  • Ongoing costs: Hosting and maintenance are covered during the pilot; what is the monthly charge afterwards, and can the app be moved to another provider?
  • Data protection: Any app collecting customer details puts UK GDPR obligations on the business as controller. Ask for a written data processing agreement and confirm where data is hosted.
  • Exit terms: Notice period, and what happens to customer data if either side walks away.

Get all of that in writing before anything is built.

For the OP, it would help to state what pilot businesses give in return (case study, testimonial, feedback time). That is usually the real price, and being upfront about it will get better quality replies.

Thanks for raising these points. A clarification for anyone considering the pilot: the 100% free offer refers to development of the individually agreed app. My original post did not specify free hosting or maintenance during the pilot, or indefinitely afterwards.

Before starting, we agree the scope and pilot arrangements in writing. That needs to cover IP and source-code rights, any ongoing hosting and maintenance charges, portability and exit arrangements, and what participation is expected from the pilot business. I do not want to imply a blanket ownership transfer, a compulsory testimonial or case study, or a fixed feedback commitment that has not been agreed.

For an app handling customer data, hosting location, data-processing arrangements and what happens to that data on exit also need to be settled for the specific project before it goes live. I cannot give a universal answer to those points from this forum offer alone.

The starting point is the business itself: we analyse its website and existing offering, suggest digital product ideas, and develop the idea it chooses. The examples in the opening post are illustrations, rather than a catalogue of ready-made apps.
