Payment for Services

Does anyone know how payment could be made for services within a website without it interfering with state retirement pension, child tax credits and CT rebate?

I am not out to "con" the tax man or anyone else, just cannot find a way to set up payments.

I am about to embark on a web-based business, but if I make it a "business" and payment is made for services within, will this interfere with the above?

I believe I cannot use the pay-pal system because of my retirement status, so would appreciate any offering of advice.

Many Thanks.:)

Not sure I follow on this one, what connection is there between PayPal and your employment/trading status? Anybody can setup a personal PayPal account and link to from a website - they (PayPal) also require no physical proof of trading to setup a business account, it just offers more facilities in exchange for you giving more public contact information.

As far as business income effecting your benefit entitlements.. not sure how you would legally get round that one - what comes from the website is income at the end of the day.

Thank you Gordon. I have found another post which I am interested in with regards to PayPal, SO's, DD's etc which I am reading at the moment.

Fully understand any monies coming from the website are income and quite happy to declare. Looks like I have been misinformed somewhere along the line, or maybe my head is just too full at the moment.:)

sounds to me that you could benefit some advice of a Financial adviser, which i am not yet qualified to give such advice. You will also get this advice off a benefits adviser within Citizens advice, local council money matters for council tax.

there may be a chance business gateway might be be able to advise you on your predicament.

sorry i know some the answers to your predicament but i am not allowed to make a comment as i am not qualified and authorised in this feild yet. sorry!!!

but you can find some info on this Government website

Council Tax Benefit : Directgov - Money, tax and benefits
