Mozilla aims for Guinness Book of Records - Web User News

I'm a massive fan of Firefox as a replacement for IE and have used it for some time. Most people that have it will know that version 3 is about to be released in the next few weeks. Mozilla the makers of Firefox are trying to create a new world record for the number of downloads in a day.

I think this is a neat PR stunt but if you read the link above they're suggesting we all have parties to celebrate the launch :p

" Yiv taken that too far" :p

We won't have time for parties cos we'll be cursing how many extensions we lose because they're not compatible with the upgrade. If I lose my Web Developer toolbar I'll go catatonic.

I know the web developer toolbar is probably one of the most used tools on my computer!! I can't live wihtout it!!

I did register to be kept up-to-date with the launch and haven't heard anything.

oh well, i'll download it anyway.

I read this really interesting article about the new features of IE8, seems like something, the web page slice seems really interesting.

IE8 Already? I Just Got Used To IE7! | WDI | Web Design Ideas Inspirational and Informational Blog

I wonder just how standards compliant both of these are going to be, they are claiming its going to be full CSS support. . . . IE8 Don't know if i belive it but Firefox, yeah I could believe it.

I know exactly what you mean! Although you could always use the Microsoft Developer plugin for IE, it's really stable and doesn't hang Explorer that often......... oh wait a minute - yes it does!! ;)

If I lose any one of the web developer, SEOpen, or accessibility toolbars, I am up the proverbial creek...

As it is, the download site is overloaded, so I've still got my paddle!

Well thats me part of the download attempt, can I now consider myself to be a record breaker? (Cue the cheesy music :))

To be serious though it does look good and has a fresher feel to it. The add-ons I use seem to still be working which is good. I've linked below to the main features of Firefox 3.0 :)

I downloaded FF3 last night....and thought oh everything seems okay....

But using it today, using various website and tool...several were blocked by FF3 for no apparent reason and website that I use regulary.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....so I have reverted for most of today to using IE.

Did anyone else experience problems?

For anybody (specifically designers) that are holding out I thought I would mention that the Web Developer toolbar automatically upgrades itself to a FF3 version, and there are SEO and accessibility plugins available for the new version also.

Gordon
