I have just started a pressure Washing business and really struggling on the marketing. I have got a website, bark.com, job quote, Google and can't seem to generate leads and when I do people budge at the price even when I'm on the cheap side. Just wondering if there other ways can't use agency because I don't have funds as I can't bring people in on my services.

It might also be worth approaching small commercial premises such as pubs, cafés and shops with grubby entrances, as one regular commercial customer could be more useful than several one-off domestic leads. I wouldn’t rush to lower prices either, because the cheapest enquiries are often the ones most likely to shop around.

It is easy to look at the money coming in without properly accounting for labour, fuel, chemicals, equipment maintenance and travel time.

You could be getting more bookings but still making very little from each one.

I'd suggest working out the full cost of a typical driveway or patio job, then setting a minimum price that leaves a reasonable profit. That way, you can negotiate with customers without accidentally accepting jobs that cost you more than they're worth.

If someone pushes back on the price after that, don't just knock money off. Offer to take something out instead, like leaving the seal off this time, or doing the drive now and the patio later. That way you're still covering your costs, and the customer can see what the cheaper price actually means.

After your first ten jobs, compare what you guessed against what each one actually took. You'll usually find travel or setup time is where the profit quietly disappears.
