I read this today in the Scotsman.

Very scary stuff...it was a case of balancing their books literally minute to minute and some were a cat's whisker from not opening ever again.

Did you not see Panorama last night Gordon??? I'm sure you can get it on the iPlayer

It was quite good at explaining what went on and just how close things got. It started back at Robert Peston breaking the Northern Rock story and then followed it through until now. I found it interesting just how much Peston's blog was mentioned. 650,000 people read his blog everyday so he can pretty much start a panic on his own
