Do you run a taxi startup or an established taxi business? Are you looking for ways to grow your business presence?

An online taxi app will solve all your needs.

With the success of companies like Uber, Ola, and Lyft, the taxi booking app is ruling the taxi industry. Businesses are bringing their taxi services online by hiring a taxi app development company that develops effective taxi booking apps. A question that they are wondering about is how much it will cost to create a taxi booking app.

Taxi booking app development cost - a complete guide (link in profile) - this article addresses the question and offers a cost breakdown for taxi app development.

Take a look on Fiverr for app development but looks like you will need some web development done as well to create an api for the booking engine to feed data too and from the app.
I have some experience in Kotlin programming but as Martamarti says a lot of work involved so expect to spend a 4 digit figure+

What’s the Real Cost in 2025?

Here’s what we’ve observed at Impero IT Services across several taxi app projects globally:
  • Basic MVP (Single City + Driver/Passenger App + Admin Panel): Starts from £20,000 to £30,000

  • Mid-tier (Real-time tracking, wallet system, reviews, surge pricing, Stripe/Razorpay integration): Ranges between £40,000 to £70,000

  • Enterprise-level (Multi-region support, AI route optimization, dynamic pricing, fleet management, multilingual, multi-currency, KYC, EV ride modules, etc.): Can easily hit £100,000+

One of our clients in the Middle East, aiming to compete with Careem and Uber locally, approached us in 2024. Their biggest challenge wasn’t the app, but:
  • Managing dynamic pricing by region and demand
  • Live fleet tracking and optimizing driver allocation using AI models
  • Full offline mode for low-connectivity areas
  • Integrating local payment wallets like STCPay and Apple Pay
We built the entire system using Flutter for passenger/driver apps and Laravel + PostgreSQL on the backend. With scalable AWS hosting, CI/CD pipelines, and real-time analytics dashboards — they were fully launch-ready in under 120 days.

I developed such an application with a budget of £150,000. I cannot say that it turned out to be very functional, nor did it become successful.

£150.000! I wish I had that sort of money.

Why did you spend so much on something for which there a number of whitelabel apps you could have used?
