The ECJ (European Court of Justice) has recently ruled that employees on long-term sick leave should accrue paid holiday while they are off work.

This could prove very costly for employers as they could face a backlog of accrued holiday entitlement for employees returning from sick leave and increased termination costs for those who don't return, especially if final payments are calculated incorrectly!

This along with the new flexible working legislation due in April and the complex information and consultation regulations makes managing staff even more complicated than normal.

Is your business aware of the changes and the impact they will have?
