Dear All,

Hope everybody is having a nice wednesday there is a wee bit of sunshine in leith just now (nothing to do with the proclaimers :001_smile:) doubt it will last though.

Just wondering who everybody uses as a domain registrar?

I have some domains with 1and1 but they just ripped me off for transfering a domain to them, so leaving them. And lycos are totally useless.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks

Tom

Call me daft if you like, but I am using Fasthosts just now (just for domain admin). They are not the cheapest right enough but I like the control panel, and transfers are nice and straight forward.

Regards,

Gordon

Fasthosts :scared:

They are THE worst company ever!

They are trying to rip off the charity i work for for £225 for a hosting account that we asked them to close over 18 months ago. But that is another story

I've given stu a pm see what deal he can cut me

Thanks all!

I am a registrar with my own TAG so register under myself, I also have quite a few with UKReg/Fasthosts who are actually very good as a domain registrar, auto renew/easy transfer in/out and free web/email forwarding so cover all the basics you may need pretty well.

I know it seems daft, I even got bitten by them in the past with the big 'password robbery' but as Scott says they are actually quite good as a registrar. I would NEVER use them for hosting though!!:D

I'm not trying to make Stu out to be the best IT Geek on this forum 'cos that'll make him blush but, he actually told me my domain was about to run out and he sorted everything for me. Apart from paying the bill, there really wasn't any input from me.

I guess I'm a bit late for this one, but if anyone else is ever wondering about this, there are two registrars I would recommend - firstly, there's 123-reg.co.uk (they're dirt cheap) but I wouldn't let them host anything as they're not too good at that. Secondly, there's my favourite http://www.Dreamhost.com - they're green too.

IF you sign up here using my affiliate scheme, you will receive two free domain names with your package (1 free from Dreamhost and then 1 free as part of my reseller scheme once your deal has gone through) - more details on my site.
