Is Ayrshire the new Cannes?
With Turnberry going all out for seven star status, and Glenapp Castle acheiving 5 star status (one of only 4 in the whole of Scotland) I am finding myself in foodie heaven.
I have visited Glenapp several times, it is my favourite resturant in the UK, and with the added bonus that it's only 10 miles from my house we do tend to invent reasons to visit.
For those that don't know Glenapp, it was taken over by a couple a few years back, the building and gardens suffering from years of neglect, damp and damage, and they have painstakingly restored the hotel to the highest standards. The food is exquisite.
I am really pleased to see a local family owned and run business competing up there head to head with the big conglomerates, and coming out on top.
Well done, Glenapp.
