Digital Britain - The Interim Report

The Government has today published a plan to secure Britain’s place at the forefront of the global digital economy. The interim report contains more than 20 recommendations, including specific proposals on:

• 
  next generation networks
  universal access to broadband
  the creation of a second public service provider of scale
  the modernisation of wireless radio spectrum holdings
  a digital future for radio
  a new deal for digital content rights
  enhancing the digital delivery of public services

I'll be reading this over the next few days as I think it's quite important that we have an internet infrastructure that supports both Scotland and Britain as a whole

I'll be reading this too over the next few days. I was about to pass instant judgement and comments on why it's a great idea, but in reality isn't possible... but I'll wait until I've read the document first (for a change! ).

To highlight how important this could be two stats spring to mind.

The UK's digital economy account for 8% of GDP & by 2012 £1 in every £5 of all new commerce in this country will be online.
