I have a contact on MSN I want to delete.

But everytime I do it, MSN disconnets and when I reconnect the contact is still there.

The contact is someone I know, but they don't use MSN anymore....so it's not some weird/odd hotmail account.

Any idea's what's going on?

Gordon,

I know loads of people who are having various issues with MSN. There's times in the day when you just cant get connectivity and it's been like that for a few months. Is it Live Messenger you are using? and is it up to date as far as you know?

Try this, if you haven't already. 1. At the top of the MSN List of contacts is a row of Tabs. Click on the ''Tools'' then from the drop down menu ''Options'' 2. On the list that appears, click on ''Privacy'' 3. The ''Allow'' list appears on the left and the ''Block'' list on the right, with arrows left and arrows right to move contacts from one to the other. 4. Find your contact on the allow list and single click to Highlight. 5. Click on the right arrows to move the contact to the block list. 6. As your contact has stopped using MSN it is possible to remove them completely by single clicking on that contact who is now in the blocked column. 7. Now that that contact is highlighted, right click on the contact to get a drop down menu and then left click on ''delete'' which will appear in the drop down menu.

Thank Colin,

I had tried it before and it didn't seem to work....I tried it again when I saw your instructions in case I missed something.

Now here is a strange things....the email I am trying to delelte neither appears in my allow or blocked list....(Also I am not on the other persons list either).

But it still is on my front list....strange!!

I have posted a question to MSN....so waiting for an answer from them.

I appreciate you (and others) posting a suggestion with what to do. :thumbup1:

If I get a answer from MSN I'll post it her for all to see, in case my "unique" problem occurs with anyone else.

Thanks , I tried MSN8 ....but got conflict with my machine....so reverted back to the old version.

I only have about 8 friends (in the world:crying:) on MSN, so it's not a big thing for me to use....handy for you, Stu, Alison, and Brian!!:thumbup1:

Gordon, sorry to hear that the method of deleting I sent didn't work. It is strange what is happening. I hear of people having problems with MSN/Windows Live messenger but the problems do always seem to be with their computer itself. Apart from occasionally being unavailable due to overload, I find WLM works faultlessly.
What I would try next is to bring up your CONTACTS LIST which will include the non instant messaging contacts too, and delete the contact from that list. Also block that contact. If they still have their MSN installed they will keep on coming back if they haven't unistalled fully and have MSN set to log in automatically at start up.

Whether your using an old version of MSN or the newest version of WLM shouldn't make any difference. I don't think reporting the problem will help. When you got a conflict while trying to install WLM my guess is that the built in ''windows firewall'' that comes with XP SP2, XP SP3 and vista would have blocked it. If your firewall isn't set to give you alerts of a block, you wouldn't have known. You would need to go to the Firewall via the Control Panel, click on Exceptions and then tick the box next to WLM.
What I would do next if this failed is to completely unistall the MSN then reinstall using the download from the WLM site. The other contacts wouldn't be lost because you would log in with the same .NET log in details as before.

Hooray...problem solved...and I didn't get any help from Microsoft at all!!

I figured it all out by myself.....woohoo....

What I had to do was go into my hotmail account on the web....(a thing I never use.....only use messeger) and delete the contact there....a low it did work.....

Thanks everyone for your help.
