Hi Rob - I'm a member of the Dynamo Chapter of BNI and also an Assistant Director in the Scotland West Area.

BNI works extremely well for me and I've made a 200%+ ROI since joining late last year as have numerous others.

Give me a call or drop me a PM if you'd like any more info or better still come along and have a look for yourself.

We meet every Wednesday morning at 6.45am at the Marks Hotel on Bath Street in Glasgow...........just let me know beforehand so I can make sure the catering is sorted.

Hi
I used to be a member of BNI when i first started my business and i did find it very useful! We had a great group of people in our chapter and i got a lot of business from it and still have some great contacts from it. I honestly think that if the format that BNI follows suits how you are comfortable networking and the type of business you have then it could work well for you, but i know people who love it & people who don't like it, depending on how formal they like the meetings & if they can commit to a weekly meeting for a year. It really gave me confidence in talking to people about my business and how to do it well, since you only get 60 seconds to do it, i think this was one of the best things i took away from BNI and it has shown at other networking events i have gone to!

I have seen people do extremely well and some people struggle. I am no longer a member for a few reasons but mainly as a new business i wanted to expand my networking field outside our chapter so as a business i could benefit a group like that if i ever joined again so i joined the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, but i also felt that the fees were quite high and inflexible.

A bit of a long winded reply, but hope it helps :D

Hi Rob

BNI is a good organisation that serves some folks really well. i've tried several chapters around Edinburgh in the recent past and found them all very welcoming. but you do need to sample several and find the one that's right for you. Each BNI has a slightly different character.

Of course, If you're looking for Edinburgh networking then obviously there's also Power Lunch Club ably run by our very own Gordon Dow.

And if you particularly prefer breakfast networking there's always 4Networking which is national but recently arrived in Edinburgh. In fact the new Leith group launches on Sept 15th. Details here: Business Networking Edinburgh Leith

So you're spoilt for choice! Try them all and see what suits you and your personality. There's a big difference in costs too.

Rob
