Hello everyone! I hope you’re all doing well. I’m in search of recommendations for high-quality blackout curtains that would be perfect for our golf simulator room. We want to create an optimal environment for practicing, which means minimizing outside light interference. I would appreciate any suggestions based on your experiences. Thank you!

Blackout curtains for a golf sim room

For a simulator room, I’d go for theatre-grade “blackout dimout” or blackout lining rather than standard “blackout” curtains (many still glow at the edges). Best results come from ceiling-track curtains with overlap and a pelmet/valance to stop light bleed from the top.

Good UK options:
  • Dunelm blackout curtains + their blackout lining (good value, lots of sizes)
  • Hillarys or Swift Direct Blinds for made-to-measure blackout curtains/tracks
  • IKEA MAJGULL as a budget starting point (works better with a pelmet)

If you share your window width/drop and whether you can fit a ceiling track, I can point you to the best setup.

For a golf sim, I’d definitely go for proper thermal blackout curtains rather than the basic ones. They block a lot more light and can also help with glare on the screen, which makes a pretty big difference. I’d also look for something floor-to-ceiling if possible to cut down on light coming around the edges)
