"Microsoft has released the beta build of its forthcoming Windows 8 Server operating system, a day after making its "Consumer Preview" of the Windows 8 client-side code available on Wednesday."

I'm only just rolling out SBS2011 servers!!!

Microsoft have lost the plot.

Haven't had a go yet, but from screenshots it looks like it's designed for a tablet.
Will have a go, but Linux Mint for me at the moment, it just works.

Quick review stugster? What's so wrong with it?

Lol - I think Microsoft lost the plot years ago Stu!

I actually braved up a couple of weeks back and re-visited their developer network for the first time in a few years. I was trying to find out what direction I should take to get back into a bit of desktop development - funnily enough there is no clear direction...

Was going to try the consumer preview of client Windows but before I could download it my Twitter feed was showing screengrabs of SilverLight fails and all sorts...

I haven't even looked at it yet David. I just think it's a bit soon seeing as businesses are only now just rolling out 2011 server editions.

Will take the time over the next month to have a play, but I don't see any business justification to go with Windows Server 8 over 2011 or even 2008 to be honest.
