I planned a lot of things in stages (largely as I went),but sometimes something just throws a complete spanner in the works. My biggest early error was forgetting to take regular backups of my work. I once lost a full day of creative design work when I accidentally overwrote the files.

Ouch! That sounds like an extra cost on top to deal with as well! I bet that took some recovering from.
