Plans for extended paternity leave that would see parents being able to 'split' the leave after the initial six months were resurrected this week.
The CIPD have gone on record saying this would create a huge administrative burden for employers and questioned whether there would be much uptake by partners anyway given the fact evidence suggests most currently choose to take 2 weeks paid holiday instead of 2 weeks paternity leave pay mainly for financial reasons.
