Think its time to move on...had a training session with Gordon this morning and he was telling me about this thread.
I havent been at this forum for long but i enjoy reading the posts and chatting to the people i have met here.
also enjoyed looking at peoples websites and reading the articles on seo and business articles.
lets keep the forum for whats its best for..networking...chatting..expressing opinions without prejudice....and having a bit of a lugh.
lets keep the positive vibe going i have experienced so far and lose the negative stuff and the bikering!
stay strong and positive

You make some excellent points Eddie. However, it would be foolhardy and naive to take the line that everything in the business world is positive. It would also not, I feel, be in our interests to merely wave the more contentious issues merrily by. The internet being littered with 'business forums' that are no more than fairly shallow advertising exchanges. And in this respect SBF is a breath of fresh air.
If an Individual does not wish to take part in or even read a contentious thread then they are at liberty to ignore it.
If you check the posting dates "The Hirer" thread
was virtually ignored for some considerable time only becoming 'alight' when certain individuals with an agenda joined the forum (often more than once!).
My own first post on the subject (No 24) would have been my last save for the fact certain individuals chose to act in defence of the project in question by telephoning my office and issuing threats of physical violence. I later learned that I was not the only SBF member to receive similarly disturbing calls.
I see no evidence of prejudice. The project and the individuals involved were criticised quite legitimately on the basis of what they had released into the public area. No more, no less.
Nor do I see evidence of bickering.
Had those who wished to defend the project come
legitimately to the table with cogent points then those would have been received and debated in a professional manner. However when faced with legitimate criticism these people responded not only with intimidation and threats of violence but with multiple attempts at seeding dis-information. At every point those attempts were 'shut down'; a fairly standard debating technique.
I suspect we might agree that what resulted was something of an unseemly display. But I don't think anyone on the SBF has anything to reproach themselves about. And I would suggest that the collective refusal to be gagged by bullies and thugs
actually bodes well for the forum as a platform for serious business debate.
"The Hirer" thread will, I hope, die a natural death as those who have attempted to defend the project in the way they have realise that they are simply piling harm upon the harm they've already done to themselves.
I believe we
are strong and positive....
