St Andrews Day - A public holiday?

I didn't actually know that an act was passed in 2007 to make St. Andrews day a public holiday. I'm guessing that while many people had the day off due to the snow that many would not have taken it off purely to celebrate our national saint.

It should be a national holiday and widely used as it would help us appreciate tradition and can maybe use it for better country relations between ourselves

I agree Harry it should be a public holiday. I have to admit though, not only is it because it would help us appreciate tradition but it would mean hubby could have his birthday off work every year :)
