Ok what does it mean? Well what its not, is just some jumbled up bunch of letters. ;) I must admit when I first saw it I didn't have a clue what it was about. The letters stand for Self Representing Artists and Jewellery Designer.
It is a community promoting artists and jewellery designers who make their own stuff. Only people like myself who make jewellery (or artists) are accepted into this community. If you buy in jewellery to sell on and tried to join, then your application would be refused. I am allowed to use the initials on my website, business cards...basically anywhere I want to promote myself. It lets customers know that they are buying direct from the designer and not from any middleman trying to make a profit from some assembly line worker.
It doesnt sound like its very much, but I think its quite cool. Anyway I submitted an application form and I have been accepted. I have to wait on a second email to confirm my application and then my own name and website will appear on SRAJD website. :)
