ATTENDEES at a recent social networking workshop are already putting into practice what they have learned by spreading the word to other local businesses.
The first specialist session, which brought the benefits of Twitter and Facebook to life for participants, was sold out weeks in advance. A second overspill workshop also sold out with a waiting list now in place for a third.
NSDesign and the Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce teamed up to provide the event entitled “Embrace the Space – Social Networking for Businesses”.
Gary Ennis, Managing Director of NSDesign, an award-winning e-commerce company based in Hillington said:
“Everyone who attended the first workshop was delighted and left with tools and ideas of how to put what we had talked about into practice. We got some great feedback from participants and they really seemed to take on board what we were saying.
“We got a real mixture of companies at the event and I think those leaving must have spread the word because the additional workshop also sold out soon after! Initially we were doing a series of three separate events on different subjects with the Chamber of Commerce but the appeal of learning how to make Twitter and Facebook and the like work for your business has meant we will now have had three of those alone.”
Attendee, Kenneth Mathie, Fund-raising Manager at ACCORD Hospice, said:
“The workshop was great for explaining in detail all of the recent developments on social networking and how it can benefit our organisation if used correctly. I certainly have a much better understanding of this phenomenon and intend to use my new knowledge to my organisation’s advantage.”
Laura Mills, from Renfrewshire Chamber of Commerce, said:
“We are absolutely delighted at the response we have had – clearly this has sparked a real interest in people. I think that due to the economic downturn businesses are looking for as many ways as they can to increase revenue and social networking is something which could be beneficial for the company.”
There is a waiting list for a third workshop which will be on a first come first served basis, date to be confirmed.
