Scottish Business Forums members attending Glasgow PLC POWER TALKS Launch 11/09
founder and owner of the Scottish Business Forums (SBF),along with several members of the SBF will be attending the launch of the PLC POWER TALKS (and networking lunch) in Glasgow on the 11th of September. We do hope that more of the membership can come along.

Our first POWER TALK launched in Edinburgh in July, with PR Guru and best selling author, Penny Haywood Calder. These talks are designed to give amazing advice to companies in areas which really help them to promote or boost their businesses.

The event was such a great success the last time, that we asked Penny if she would do it again in Glasgow, and she has kindly agreed to do so. Here is just sample of some of the comments made that day...

“…The best two hours I’ve spent since we set up. Sensible down to earth advice, and doesn’t cost the earth…”
David Kerr, Manager, Sky High Market Research
Sky High Market Research || Quality Counts

Aside from running PHPR PHPR Ltd - PR to boost business she is also a best selling author, with the book “DIY PR: The Small Business Guide to Free Publicity” and a member of the highly prestigious Public Relations Boutiques International (PRBI). PHPR is one of 16 PR agencies in the world that makes up this organisation.

Working mainly with high growth and PLCs in the IT, telecoms and financial services sectors, plus public sector editing and launch contracts, some of Penny’s clients have included:-

  • Bank of Scotland
  • Barclays Bank
  • BT
  • Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)
  • Clydesdale Bank
  • Forestry Commission
  • Historic Scotland
  • Investors in People (Scotland)
  • Keillar Resourcing
  • KPMG
  • North of Scotland Water
  • The Prince’s Trust
  • PWC
  • The Royal Bank of Scotland
  • Scottish Enterprise
  • Scottish Office
  • Scottish Qualifications Authority
  • TSB Bank Scotland plc

Penny’s approach to PR is to look at key business objectives and see how she can best add value to your business, with creative and innovative ideas allied to well proven PR practices.

This is a great opportunity for businesses to be in front of someone of this calibre in business, listen her speak, ask her some question and network with her over lunch.

At the event she will be talking and answering some PR questions that businesses have. She will also be networking and sharing over lunch many helpful hints and tips about low cost or even in some instances free PR that could be applied to businesses instantly.

If SBF members are interested, please register your details at our web site Business, Networking, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lunch, Power, Club then drop us a email to confirm you want that date.

The cost will be £30 to SBF members.

It will be at ESCA’s at 27 Chisholm Street, Glasgow, between 11:00 and 12:00 for the speaker event, then 12:00-14:00 for the networking.

Kind regards

Gordon Dow

If this is the event you were referring to -sorry can't make it.
I'm exhibiting at the Business Show in Glenrothes that day.

I haven't heard Penny, but her client portfolio looks impressive so I'm sure it will be a good event

Hi Gordon,

Just to say a big thank you for the event today. I really enjoyed it and I think you are doing a fantastic job with the PLC. I've got a lot out of today and my press release is wining it's way to Penny as we speak :)

Hi Gordon,

I'd like to echo 's sentiments. I found today's event absolutely fantastic, and I'm still buzzing from the excitement of having another bash at a press release myself! Penny's tips and ways of working have given me great confidence when writing.

As for the ability to network and relax with like-minded business individuals, the PLC has hit the nail on the head! An absolutely lovely lunch with lovely people all talking about the one lovely subject: business :D

Congratulations again Gordon, and thank you! :)

I'll heartily echo what said. He had to sit beside me and yet he still enjoyed it.... Between the PLC and this forum I think we've got something Very Special started here. Well done both of you.
