Hi All,

I just thought i'd post the link below, it may not interest everybody but i wanted to raise awareness of the change in occupational standards. Bookkeeping is now recognised as a seperate profession to Accounting, i think this is great news as in most cases Bookkeepers don't get the recognition they deserve.

The following link also highlights the changes in technical capabilities for the various levels of membership within the ICB.

I think these changes have been long overdue, to many 'cowboys' have been able to pass individual exams and be able to practice on behalf of clients. Hopefully this will stop them from gaining a practice license so easily as ultimately it's the clients who end up paying the price.

Kind Regards

Neil

I agree Neil

Having worked for a large firm of Accountants in Edinburgh many years ago as an Accounting Assistant, I decided I would like to do more bookkeeping within my own business so this year I gained HNC Accounting and then decided to do the entrance paper for membership of the ICB. I was surprised at how in depth the exam was!

Anyway, I have passed and now have a Practice Licence so am very chuffed about that! I think all bookkeepers should be required to take an exam in order to get a Licence. I also believe that we should keep learning and keep up with modern methods in order to look after our clients properly.

Just my 2p worth!
