Power companies are ripping off consumers - Times Online

Interesting article in The Times today regarding the big six power companies in the UK. I'm one of these people that tend to shop around for utilities every six months or so but The Times have said that the difference between the big six based on dual fuel with a monthly direct debit is a few pence per week. Dont you smell an oligopoly?

As with the supermarkets, it's just another example of price fixing from the big companies. When are the watchdogs that are supposed to be looking after the interests of the consumer going to do something about this?

I had someone at the door the other day telling me I needed to get my provider to freeze my prices right now. I told him where to go.

No ...As Ms Dunbar would put it, I smell s**te!

It's inevitable.. what was once public property and an essential resource is now a means by which we are held to ransom. Birds are singing, dogs are are barking and power companies are ripping off consumers...

Assets stripped, consumers against the wall... Expect carcases to be dumped soon and the hapless taxpayer yet again to be forced to bail the whole sorry mess out...
