5 of the 7 Scottish postbus routes end today, and i think that the other 2 finished at the begining of the month, as the Post Office cuts these vital services based on costs.
I feel quite strongly about this, the post office is a very confused organisation, with no clear directive as to whether its a commercial organisation all about profit, or whether it's about public service. It sits between the two stools very badly and doesn't seem to acheive either objective.
But how much more expensive can it be to run a Postbus than a normal postvan? And the gains to the communities served are so much more than the extra £ spent by the post office.
