Hi Everyone,

I’m looking for a plumber/gas engineer to partner with in order to run and grow a plumbing & heating firm in London. My background is in operations with a tech bias and have worked in numerous industries including engineering and plumbing & heating.

I’ve actually run a plumbing business before but unfortunately, it came to an end due to personal circumstances. I was able to apply a lot of principles from my career and bring a lot to the table with the eyes of an outsider. It was a great experience and I’d keen to mirror some of the successes and build from lessons learned. My main driver here is simply that I find this type of business really stimulating and I’m focused on being self employed again.

We could either start a new business from scratch or build your existing business. Division of labour would be as follows. I’d also be happy for you to hold majority shares.

You - Technical Director
  • Quotations
  • Technical support
  • Customer queries
  • Quality control
  • Procurement

Me - Operations Director
  • Business Strategy
  • Operational processes
  • Customer support
  • Web design
  • Digital automation
  • Digital Marketing/SEO
  • Branding/Design
  • Recruitment
  • Payroll
  • Compliance
  • Admin

Some of my functions would eventually be outsourced but keeping some of these in house initially saves a lot of money plus having an ownership/understanding of these areas is never a bad thing.

One thing I’m really keen on is building towards a profitable exit strategy. A lot of trade businesses are so closely tied to an individual that it can be almost impossible to sell on. Conversely, a business with a strong brand, extremely well defined processes and evidence of growth make for an attractive proposition.

You are ideally one of the following;
  • Starting out on your own and want to grow rapidly beyond a one man band
  • Established on your own and want to grow but struggling when still on the tools
  • You are thinking about retirement in the medium future and want to grow and exit to secure your future.
