My May Marketing Challenge

We have got off to a good start to the year in all our businesses with the main one being 47% up in April and 50% on the year so far.

However, I have took my eye of the ball for May and I need to find another 400 clients to match last year and 1150 to keep our growth rate going.

I have to spend half the month in Marrakech working on another business so a wee bit of a challenge this coming month to keep the good start going

So I hear by challenge myself to find 1150 new clients to visit us in the month of May

A bit of a steep hill I think but interesting to see if can be done. Many sleepless nights coming I think.

Going to treat myself to a 5 star meal on a roof top resturant in Marrakech on 31st May if I get it done.

River bugging looks amazing - think I will have to round up the troops for a day out!

Is it suitable for a clumsy person?

I can start to smell that meal

After a mad few days of chasing down business as well as training a new employee to do just that we are about 100 clients short of last Mays numbers so will beat last year but yet to be seen if we can match the growth of last few months.

Okay caught up and overtook last years numbers but I still need another 622 clients to visit us in then next 19 days in order to keep our growth rate going

Running out of ideas and contacts still have 701 on outstanding enquiries but they have all been chased up and contacted and I suspect we will not get more than around 100 from that so hunting for around 500 new clients

Any ideas?

I want to treat myself to that meal

Doesn't sound like you need much help! What have you been doing to get those leads so far? That might help trigger some new fun ideas for you.

And now you're making me hungry!

I need help in most things in life, the good thing is when you accept that your skill base is limited you tend to focus on the small amount of things what you are reasonable at.:D

We are closing the numbsers slow but sure by various routes here are some

1. Chasing down enquires and trying to convert them
2. Being as many places on the webs as we can and I reckon I am only in 1% of where that I need to be.
3. Up selling of exisiting bookings and clients
4. Local marketing to those that are in our area
5. Inspiring staff to get of their backsides and do a bit extra

I suspect we are going to fall a bit short looking at the numbers and the days left in the month and my focus in on our Morocco business for the nex few weeks. May have to down grade to a Tagine in the square rather than a 5 star meal

Big failure looming folks:cursing:, with 2 days to go in the month it looks like we are going to exit the month with around 15-16% growth depending on how tomorrow and Sunday pan out.

So no swish Indian meal for me on Sunday night at the luxury hotel. It will have to be yet another Tagine at the local cafe.

June is looking tough as well at present. Need to find another couple of hundred clients just to stand still which we should do but the growth rate is going to slow.

Don't forget that May had 2 bank holidays, and 5 weekends. So if your enquiries come in on the working days, May was actually a much shorter month than average, so if you pro-rata your results, grossing up for bank holidays, then i'm sure you've exceeded your target :D

Seriously though Peter, when do you follow up the enquiries?

Do you do it a certain time after the enquiry, or do you target specific dates. If its the former consider the latter.

We used to run auctions, and the average spend was far higher when we ran the auctions on the first weekend of the month. Nothing like a pay check sitting in the bank to help people feel happier about spending decisions (even if they're not actually paying for it then and there on the spot).

Despite the banks best efforts, huge proportions of the employed are still paid either middle of the month if they work in the public sector, or the last friday of the month if they're in the private sector

Which back to my lighthearted post above, May is a five week month, and most folk find these very hard going. I used to have a village shop, and by the fifth week of a 5 week month I used to have people coming in with penny jars. (First week, £20notes, Second week £10notes, Third week £5notes, Forth week £1coins, 5 weeks-lots of small change).

We answer all enquires as they come in hopefully within the hour but certainly within 12 hours. They are the chased 1 week later and every week after that and till we get a yes or a no. Maybes are the worst thing for us as the logistics of what we do takes time to sort. For examle we have over 1000 maybes for June at present which cause us grief if they convert last minute. That siad we prefer that than not converting:thumbup:

You are correct in the above we always see a rush of converstions ist week of a new month when people have cash in the bank
