Is there any online resources for legal requirement for business websites?

From 1 January 2007, all companies and LLPs with a website and communicating electronically are required to include mandatory information on their website and in their electronic communications. This includes business conducted by SMS messaging.

From 1 January 2007, if your website does not contain the company’s full name – including any trading names, its place of registration and registration number and registered office address, you are committing an offence.

The disclosure of business names is a classic one that catches people out. Especially dodgy pseudo-professional web designers. Fairly basic stuff; but it's usually the first sign of a cowboy if their own details are either missing or non-compliant...

The CDPA comes into play of course too. I see a LOT of IP on sites that, if properly licensed, would have cost thousands and seems to be in obvious breach.... Data protection act could come into play in some respects. The DDA.....

Pretty complex stuff actually; and it's worth noting the link that Stu gave just gives the key points of one aspect....
