Launched A New App, How To Target Accountants And General Users

Hi

I have launched a new app called Kagazz for users to get rid of their paper receipts and convert and store it in a central secured storage. Since the launch 2 weeks ago, I have got 33 users till now using it.

The app has features for small businesses and accountants to use it to ease the expense process.

I would like any help me in how to target the businesses and accountancy firms to look at this.

Any help or advice is very much appreciated.

Thanks

Sharjil

Hi Sharjil,

First of all welcome to SBF :)

How did you come up with the name Kagazz? Just interested that's all.

I use expensify myself which is an app on my iPhone and i'm also aware of other providers like Receipt Bank and Shoeboxed. How does your service compare to them? Is there anything that makes it different?

Also where are you based as your website doesn't have an address?

I think you've already started going down the right path with integrations with online accounting software providers as this should hopefully mean accountants who are embracing the cloud become aware of Kagazz. In terms of individuals i'm not sure. What I do know though is there is a whole myriad of options so you have to find some USP that makes yours more appealing.

Hi

Thanks for the reply.

Kagazz basically means paper. The link I found with my product is because my product basically scans paper. :) So why not!

I am based in Edinburgh and the office address will go on shortly on the website.

I also used a few products available but none was actually able to do what I wanted. For most contractors, freelancers or business users, the requirement which I found was they wanted something which is easy to use i.e. I just scan the receipts, the product intelligently retrieves the information, and upload and stores somewhere. Day to day I can use this to scan my receipts as and when I receive. At the end of the month, for accounting purposes, this should link with either my online package or I can just click 1 button which will email all my receipts to my accountant.

This was missing from all products, hence I developed this.

Since I launched, about 36 users have signed up and using it.

My next plan is to target accountants to make them use this. So wanted to see if I can get any help here. I am already getting positive feedback with the cloud accounting companies and one of them has made Kagazz their integration partner. So next plan is to target accountants using that software.

So lets see what lies ahead!

Thanks and keep in touch!

Hi Sharjil,

It sounds like you have a good product but listening to advice I'd start by conducting market research into competing products so you can identify your USP.

I've dealt with ICAS before and found them extremely helpful, perhaps they can provide you with a list of some kind with Scottish Accountants for targeting via email/phone.

LinkedIn groups and Google+ communities is a great way to connect with business professionals and Accountants so try connecting on Social Media with your target market. Try running a poll or conduct market research on these sites to gain a batter understanding of your customer needs.

Best of luck with Kagazz.

Hi Jason

Thanks for your reply. Thanks for the advice and I have contacted ICAS and awaiting for their response.

Additionally, conducting market research as well and at the moment Kagazz does look promising.

Online marketing is working for us and users are trickling in. So fingers crossed.

Thanks again

Sounds like a good app. Can you set it to email all the receipts at the end of the month to yourself, is it automatic? I'm self employed so do my own books but I'm forever loosing my receipts, I don't do bits of loose paper!

Just tried searching for you in the iTunes app store and couldn't find it, then I found that it's still being developed. How long untill it is available in the apple app store?

Hi there, Yes you can email all the receipts in a zip file to yourself or anyone else if you want. The zip file will have an excel sheet with the expense details along with the digital receipt image.

Hi We have submitted the app to Apple last Thursday, so we are hoping it will be available either by the end of this week or early next week. I will inform you once it is available, hopefully very soon.

I think that provided you put together a good pitch, this should be quite easy to sell. Because anyone who owns a business knows that it's an absolute nightmare to gather the receipts together. There's always something that doesn't quite add up or look right - and your product could solve that.

You'd need to convince them that they could trust you, though, because putting their faith in such a small app with limited members would be a bit of a jump for a lot of people.

Hi Gemma
Thanks for your reply. Actually now we have quite a number of users. Since we launched on the 1st of January, we have 700 + downloads and 330+users. We have tied up as an add-on with FreeAgent and ran quite a few campaigns in the UK which is slowly establishing the brand.
I agree with you that trust need to established first and that is why we are building the brand name for people to identify over time.
I am hoping slowly in the next few months we will have more users which will help the business.
Thanks
Sharjil

Oh, that's good news. The more users you have, the more people you have to spread the word!
