Is there a world shortage of plastic?

Recently I requested a quote for small 2,5mm nylon push clips from a plastics company, they quoted me £69.00 +vat/100 then immediately reduced it to £30.00 +vat/100, I then asked for a price for 1,000 and they quoted £175 +vat, I then received a further quote for 200 at £30.00 +vat which I decided to buy. I paid £33.00 and guess what? they delivered 2,000.

I then called another plastics company requesting a quote for A5 x 6mm, flat packed envelopes, manufactured from 1/8 - 1/4mm thick polypropylene, I received their quote today, minimum quantity of 50 at £5.19 +vat per unit!!. I think I'll use high quality presentation boxes instead and save the difference.

This is the type of product I'm looking for.

I'd go back and ask the first company for them - you'll only need to order a few!
