Hi Stuarty

Fred/ Rickwood here again

Thanks for explaining Natural Links but how do google know if you have asked or not!!

They don't, (yet!!) But it's the profile that goes with them. If you get say 600 new links in during one week, then that to google shows that you're on a link building campaign, and that you've asked/requested/submitted links rather than people just choosing to link into you.

Where as, if you acquire a few a week, then it looks more natural.

It also looks at where the links come from. So if the links appear in a block of text where the text is discussing your business/services/industry etc, it looks a lot more natural than a link in a links page.

Kind regards
Sandra

Sandra explained it very well.

To add to that - reciprocal links aren't considered natural - Google knows these links occur as a result of collaboration between 2 websites so Google marks the value of these down in its ranking algorithim.

The platform you use is pretty much irrelevant so long as the url it produces are compact and free from bumf. WP, as has been mentioned, is a good choice.

Try this experiment...
.....
.....
You will get this result:

Rank 1 - test3.html (because of more links)
Rank 2 - test2.html

Test1.html - will not get listed because states that a page must have at least one link.

Google ranks pages based on how many quality backlinks your site has.
