I have to pay £90 a month on bus fees to get to and from my apprenticeship - am I eligible for a bursary? If it makes a difference, I'm 18.

I don't know the answer Jamie but I do know that when I was considering applications for an apprenticeship last year I was very concerned about the distances which some potential employees would be travelling and the likely cost as well as the difficulty in bad weather. I didn't want to turn down people who were prepared to do the journey but I could also see the problems in finances and timekeeping and attendance which it might create.

Apologies for the late reply. I used to work for a company who was just a train journey away (and a bus). It used to cost me about £5/£6 on the return train, then I had a bus card which cost me £30 a month and entitled me to travel unlimited times from the station to my place of work and vise-versa.
It cost me a bloody fortune so I ended up getting the bus straight from my house to the station, then caught another bus from the station to work. It only cost me £70 a month (it was an unlimited bus card for the whole of Cambridgeshire) but meant I was travelling for 3 hours a day overall, and admittedly it got to e point where I got fed up.
When I handed my notice in, the training provider (who were excellent by the way!) offered to help me with transport etc - so it's worth asking them
