Help! Help! on putting together. etc.

Hi folks!

Im looking for one partition in a room, possibly 2.
(Architect drawings/Permission etc in place)

The reason i thought of posting here was because... all of the companies i found through places like YELL are a bit over the top and i really hate all the bargaining etc and usually there are plenty of businessmen / soletraders who are known by business people like yourself for doing good jobs and i wanted to keep it straightforward and by someone reccommended.

I really hate Gumtree etc and avoid it like a plague.

Anyone help me out??

Look mate, if you SERIOUSLY want someone to recommend a contact in the building trade you're going to have to be a bit less cryptic... There are loads of builders and handymen around that could do this sort of job; but no-one's going to travel half way across the country to put up a stooky wall and STILL be able to do a good job on the cheap!

We are not in Berwick just next to the M8 (which we are) that takes you towards GLASGOW OR BERWICK. Outer Edinburgh.

The reason i asked here is because we wanted some reccommendations for our second premises to be done well but some of the companies are PROPER BIG outfits who are charging over the top prices when we would rather have a good joiner/builder come in and do a good job (which usually costs less) and they also benefit. I didnt want to go with anyone un-reccommended due to the fact it is for a national music retailer we are working with so the job must be good and well soundproofed.

The M8 Starts just outside Edinburgh on it's WESTERN boundary and runs WEST through Glasgow ending just before it reaches Greenock on the West coast....

Berwick is in England. On the EAST coast ...To reach it from Edinburgh you leave the city from it's SOUTHERN boundary and travel south along the A1.....

SO, Berwick and Glasgow are in two completely different directions on two completely different roads! The M8 itself must run 60 miles or so East to West.... BIG area!

So, you're outside Edinburgh.... Where? North, South East or West? And how far out? I'm only asking because a builder based in West Calder is unlikely to want to travel to Tranent to put up your walls. And even if he did he's unlikely to be able to do it as economically as a local man.

As for sound proofing. Well having run edit facilities and video studios for much of my working life I CAN tell you this is a specialised field. And unless you can spec and supervise the build yourself a local joiner isn't what you're looking for!

Its just when you come off at Hermiston Gate (sp?) area and head down Gorgie Rd. about 1/2 mile - 1 mile from Herm Gate cut off maybe.

Good friend is a sound tech aswell as previously being an architect and he has completed the drawings and we will both be on site during it all.

The current place we have is perfect and similar to what im after (but the guy is away working in Spain till November, any id prefer as i said reccommendations for it again!) Had hoped he would be able to do it.

Try Ronald Kerr at Almond Building in East Calder 01506 883187. I've not used them myself but they seem to have a good name locally and they're a small family firm that's been around for quite a long time.
