Hi there,

I'm Doogie from Orex Software Ltd.

We specialise in custom built software solutions and provide the full service from initial business analysis and requirements gathering, through software development and testing to training end users.

Although we are a new company, we have years of experience in developing bespoke software systems in a number of fields, including retail, manufacturing, service and repair.

Many of our solutions have delivered significant productivity gains to the client, allowing them to reduce the cost of their labour overhead, resulting in a rapid return on investment for the system.

I look forward to speaking to you all!

Welcome to the forums Doogie. I'm sure you'll find this place useful, there are a few IT guys on here that confuse the hell out of the rest of us.:confused1:

Thanks Brian!

Hopefully I won't confuse anyone, because fortunately I generally have a tendency to be able to re-phrase things towards a non-technical audience, but we shall see!

Hahahhaha, touché!

One of my major issues is my lack of brevity, and rather than write a 1,000 word introductory post, I thought reducing the word count by using fantastic buzz words would be a better idea ;)

I am perfectly happy to talk for hours about any aspect of the business behind the buzz words :thumbup1:

Thanks . We are predominantly a Microsoft shop, and most solutions are delivered as VB.Net applications, or ASP.Net web applications, running against the SQL Server database.

I personally I favour the VB.Net language (over C#) as it's what I'm more comfortable with and I naturally think of problems in terms of VB code.

Some very small scale projects are more suited to being developed within the Microsoft Office suite, and therefore Access or Excel based solutions are occasionally the correct fit for the task at hand, but they are avoided wherever they are not 100% the correct fit for the job.
