Google Patents

The simplified version

Anyone is able search Google patents by visiting Google Patents as you can clearly see Google's Research and Development Department have secured over 7 million.

Just because Google applies for a patent it does not necessarily mean the rights are added to the algorithm. As we all know this is a closely guarded secret.

What we can be sure of is many patents are introduced however it is impossible to know the exact state of affairs as there are hundreds of modifications per year.

The real benefit of following Google's patents is gives SEO experts an insight into Google's forward thinking strategy

Are you sure about that, Pete? Doesn't sound right to me.

Perhaps it means that Google can search 7 million patents.

Here is a link to the patent that created a stir in the SEO world back in 2005. Perfect night time reading for the anal-retentive.
