Going into buisness with family member

Hi all, I am new to this site and am looking to change career I am currently a veterinary nurse but am hoping to go
partnership with family into gas engineering as currently they have no one to sort admin ect and have no structure to the business
which is much needed as the business expands.
I am hoping to get some books and also try and speak to people to gain some knowledge and experience.
Has anyone got any guidence or good web links ?

That is quite a switch from a veterinary nurse to a gas engineering business?

Just a few questions to ask: –

I presume you are looking at an administrative role, are you qualified for this?
Will you see an increase or decrease in your income?
Have you got a formal legal agreement ready?
What are you attempting to learn from business books?
