GLASGOW Rocks basketball fans with hectic schedules can stay up-to-the-minute this season, thanks to the team’s new social media strategy created with the help of e-commerce sponsors NSDesign.

Enthusiasts who were unable to attend the team’s first away game of the season against the Sheffield Sharks were kept informed with regular posts on the team’s new Twitter page – RocksGlasgow. Over 30 updates were provided throughout the game, describing baskets, fouls and providing words of encouragement to the players and to fans.

The social media strategy was designed in partnership with The Rocks official e-commerce sponsors NSDesign – a Renfrewshire organisation specialising in web solutions for small to medium sized organisations.

Daniel Bajwoluk, Senior Commercial Manager for The Rocks said:

“We are really excited to now be active on the likes of Twitter and Facebook – social media channels which allow us to keep our fans up-to-date with all the thrilling action from games and the performance of the team.

“We would like to say a big thank you to our sponsors, NSDesign, for encouraging us to take this forward and for helping us carry out the necessary work – what a way to start the new season!”.

Gary Ennis, Managing Director at NSDesign, said:

“Twitter is a must-have social media tool for the Glasgow Rocks. Fans want to know how their team is performing, as and when the action happens – this is particularly important for away games, which are sometimes difficult for people to attend.

“We are delighted to renew our e-commerce sponsorship with the Glasgow Rocks again this year – any game we are unable to attend ourselves we will most definitely follow on Twitter!”

Fans are also pleased with the new social networking tool. Rocks fan Matt McQueen from Glasgow said:

“I couldn’t make it to the away game last week due to work commitments, but I did follow it on Twitter. Although nothing beats being at the game in person, this was definitely the next best thing,”
