A Beacon for small businesses?
‘Alternative Financing Options in a Recession’ - hosted by Abbey Business Centres
Survival and growth in the toughest economic climate for more than a generation is the theme of a free seminar aimed at the SME sector and scheduled to take place at the Abbey Business Centres at The Beacon on St Vincent Street, Glasgow on 28 October.
Contrary to popular perception it is still possible to raise capital, according to Mark Davidson, a former executive with RBS and Scottish Enterprise and now the proprietor of Lochroe, a Borders-based firm of commercial finance advisors. He will explain which organisations are still prepared to provide business capital and how this can be accessed.
However, as survival and growth is not just about money, Susan Younger, a partner with Morton Fraser, will guide delegates through the pitfalls of finance documents, concentrating on the importance of covenants and the real impact of personal guarantees.
But just to be on the safe side, Stuart Dougal, a director at KPMG, will explain the importance of having a “Plan B” in place – in case the bank still says no.
This free event is open to all business owners in Glasgow however numbers are limited.
