Fashion Show Fundraising Ideas

Hey folks!

I'm soon to hopefully get a test marketing grant from PSYBT (yay) and with it I'm going to get a jazzy new overlocker and fabric to start a new collection!

Once it's made I would like to have a fashion show. This could be semi cheaply put on, can get functins rooms for free in Glasgow's O'Couture during the week and would just need space for models to walk.....but, I would like to make it more exciting!

I looked into stage/runway hire and it can be arouns £500 and that quite a cheap one...but I'm going to do more looking into that.
Also I would hope to make some gift bags maybe around 50 as I would like to make a garter/pasties or something to go inside. May have to make some more bags, but maybe give the ones with the items in to either first folk who arrive or V.I.P's? As I doubt I could make any more wee bits so fast and for small funds.
Those I plan to buy with my wages (finally got a job, part time but I'm muchos happy).

So I'm looking for ideas on how to raise some funds, as I have some ideas butnot sure they would be so good e.g. charging a small price to get in (£2 or so) as I plan on the night being quite entertaining (more of a performance than just models walking up and down) and hopefully rope in some chums to display their items as well as sort of a run up to the lingerie. But then can you charge for a launch night? It would really only be towards cover costs not make any cash.

Also I'm thinking of looking for sponsors or folk who may want to donate things to goodie bags? Then work out how to advertise them at the night e.. a prorgram ith their name, or something in the bag?

So I'll happily take any ideas!!

Hey

What's the total amount you need? It doesn't sound like a lot, but I've always believed that if you know how much you need it's a lot easier to figure out how to get it :)

You can almost always get people to donate things into goodie bags etc....the only catch is they have to feel like it's worth it. Who is going to be there that makes it worth someone's while to donate something? That's the main thing I've always found whenever we are working with an event. People will stump up....but it's got to be worth their while.

Well my costs so far would be

Stage(if I need one)-£500-600
Goodie Bags-£20
Function room hire- £0-200 depending on where(been trying to contact O Couture)
Models-free
Lighting-not sure about whether i would need this but have a freind who may be able to help
Booklet(program, with info bout the show etc, and any sponsors)-I'm hoping someone on here might be able to clue me up on this, as I could pring it myself on some pretty paper etc, but with the theme I have in mind printing all in black may be a lot of ink. So need one priced for 4-8 pages and going to need about 100 of them.

Possibly a DJ but hoping that I will get this with venue hire.

Tho I'm sure there will be more I shall think of. I'm thinkin of asking any friends who might be willing to have sorts of run up shows with their own items that may contribute so the night.

So that could be roughly £820 plus the cost of booklets.

But again if I do without astage costs would go wayyy down...but the show would have less impact. So will have to see what venues there are in Glasgow. Anyone knows of any good ones please share!

Hi Sam

In my experience, a stage and proper lighting are essential to a good fashion show. If you are going to have a photographer or photographers or even a film crew there to promote your designs in other media then you'll be better off spending a bit of money on making the surroundings as best as you can get them.

Thats what I was thinking. Also my plan for the actual show itself would be much better with a stage.

So best get e-mailing and phoning!
