Employer ending Fixed Term Contract early whilst in middle of apprenticeship

Hi. Looking for advise / thoughts please.

I am in the middle of an apprenticeship whilst on a fixed term contract employment (FTC). Employer wants to end FTC early and then retain me as a ‘day rate contractor’.

I have asked how this will impact my apprenticeship and manager has just said to be quiet and not mention the move from employee to external contractor.

This feels wrong as I will not be an employee so how can I remain on the govt funded apprenticeship?

Do I need to tell my provider my change of circumstances and will I have to withdraw from the apprenticeship?

Thanks
J
