Do I Need To Refund?

Hi

ive been working on a project where there have been numerous delays but we managed to pull through them (server issues, flooding and loss of vital equipment for days) then, when everything looked up and our project (a new website for a magazine) was close to completion the client pulled out demanding a refund for £25. this was the hosting fee i charged after offering them the site for free! now the day before they pulled the plug they gave me permission to transfer their nameservers to allow me to finalise the domain setup and upload the site, i feel this is unfair.

question is, since we dont have a formal agreement, do i need to refund them? Legally i mean.

thanks

I myself am experiencing a situation this week which proves that many people value work by the price they paid for it. In a case where you have offered a deep discount, they value the work at the price of the discount, not the actual value.

But you don't have to refund them. What sort of daft duct-tape outfit commissions a web site without a formal agreement or a written contract? I wouldn't waste a minute of your time doing the domain transfer either - any more time you spend on this is condoning their back-handed business model.
